The Harp That Once

Live Entertainment For Any Occasion Across Ireland.

My name is Catherine, and I have been playing harp at events for over 5 years now, and enjoying every moment of music I have been able to add to people’s special days.

I grew up in Derry, Northern Ireland. I have been playing music for over 15 years  across several instruments! I began with piano and singing, and took up the harp after 10 years of classical piano under my belt. I fell in love with the harp immediately and it was a beautiful way for me to feel close to my Irish culture. I  have played at weddings from Donegal to Derry to Dublin. I love getting to go all over the country with music! After school, I went on to study music in Dublin for my undergraduate degree.

My music degree centred on singing and performance – I also perform at weddings and events as a duo with my fiancé! (We have yet to set up social media accounts for this, but getting to make music with my favourite person in the world is just amazing).

As well as performing at events, I teach music in Dublin to people of all ages, but especially young children wanting to learn piano!

The name of the business is very special to me. “The Harp That Once Through Tara’s Halls” is a famous Irish Traditional piece and is where I got the name for my business. My grandmother was from Tara, and the first time I got to play the harp for her, was for her funeral. My grandmother was always so supportive of my pursuit  of music; always asking me to play piano or sing for her, humming along with me; always so proud of my progress and musical achievements throughout the years; and always enjoyed listening to the endless hours of practice!

I am based in Dublin but I am available for events across the country. I have a repertoire of elegant wedding classics, but I am always happy to learn any pieces that hold special meaning to you. My ceremony prices start at €250 and reception music starts at €175, however I offer bundles for both ceremony and reception music.

Please get in touch if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
