Lorraine Heavey is a new name to the UK’s music world, with an accomplished voice and elegant and stylish sound.
Lorraine and the Flames are a remarkable ensemble, comprising a 5 piece jazz band with Lorraine Heavey on lead vocals, supported by the talented harmonies of Rob Webb on keyboard, Pete Roth’s impressive riffs on electric guitar, Mike Pratt’s lively grooves on double bass and John E Martin’s energy on drums. Together, they make a wonderfully mellow, easy listening sound, whether delivering a rendition of old world or contemporary jazz. Each member is a virtuoso in their own right, yet their collective chemistry is what sets them apart.
Critically acclaimed singer Lorraine has performed in a number of shows here in her home country of Ireland, including a lead role at Dublin’s National Theatre. She went on to perform on national television’s “Live At 3” and “The Late Late Show” before deciding to give up her showbiz career to raise her family. While in Italy a few years ago, a chance (and very lucky) meeting with none other than Barbara Streisand gave Lorranie the drive to focus once more on her own music career.
Along with her superb band The Flames, she has compiled a show covering many of the great melodies from The Great American Songbook and beyond, resulting in a classy show, with a smooth and soulful blend of American classics, jazz and pop, with a touch of Celtic flavour.
