Timeless Memories Through Our Wedding Photography and Video Approach with Victoria – Art

Wedding photography and videography typically involves capturing all the important moments of the wedding day, from the bride and groom preperation to the ceremony, reception and beyond.

Here is our approach to photography and filming a wedding from start to finish:

Details shots

The first thing we will do when we arrive at your wedding location (after saying hello) is take some detail shots. It is helpful if you can gather all the necessary items together so that they are all in one place when we arrive. Some of the items we need for detail shots include rings, invitations, jewelry, ties, suits, dresses, shoes, and cufflinks. If you have any sentimental details or specific items that you would like us to photograph, please let us know beforehand.

Our advice: consider getting a nice hanger for your wedding attire. It doesn’t have to be custom-made or fancy, but hanging a dress or a suit jacket on a wooden hanger looks much better than using a flimsy plastic one.

Getting ready

These photos often end up being some of our favourites. We love to capture your emotion and the laughs with your bridesmaids, family and your best friends.

This part in mostly candids – but we usually try to make sure everyone is mostly ready before we take their photos – because you probably don’t want a photo of you with one eye of makeup on or hair half done 🙂

Our advice: remember, getting ready photos are a great way to capture the excitement and anticipation of the wedding day, so have fun and enjoy the process.

The Ceremony

This is it! The moment you’ve been looking forward to. It’s easy to get lost in all the planning and stress, all the bells and whistles. But try to keep in mind the most important thing – which is the start of your lives together. During the ceremony you will get multiple angles captured of the moments that are happening at the same time, like your Groom’s reaction when he sees you coming down the aisle and your expression as you are walking.

The usual ceremony lasts approximately 30 minutes, but if you want to include any specific traditions, we’d recommend giving yourself an hour.

Our advice: two important tips that we have are; asking your officiant to move out of the way before the first kiss – that way they aren’t in the background of the photo and holding your kiss longer than usual for lots of shots!

The wedding party

After your ceremony, we’ll get some photos of just one partner’s side, then the others’, and some of everyone together. We’ll also make sure to get individual photos of both of your with members of your party.

One of our favourite prompts for the wedding party is to have the couple kiss, and everyone else give a big cheer. Another fun one is to have everyone shout their best marriage advice at the same time – we get a wide range of answers with this one! It helps everyone forget about the camera for a minute, and you get some candid photos of your nearest and dearest.

Quick tip: Make sure that everyone has their bouquets ready or boutonnieres on!

The family

Our goal is for you to have the most enjoyable and efficient family photos possible. While they may appear daunting, we are here to make them go smoothly.

We dont like creating our own list of family photos – because every family situation is different, so we appreciate when the couple makes a list of every family combination they want photographed.

After family portraits, we will get some photos of just the two of you. While all this is going on, all of your guests will be at the cocktail hour.

Our advice: Having a list of family members that you need photos with is always helpful. Definately make sure to let any family members who as part of these formals know that hey have to be there!

The reception

During the reception, we will take some candids and some group photos, so if there are any friends or extended family members that you need photos with, now is the time! A lot of stuff happens during the reception, and we’ll take photos of all of it.

Here are some common reception events we love to capture:

  • couple’s entrance
  • first dance
  • parent dances
  • anniversary dance
  • toast, cake cutting
  • grand exit

Our advice: Consider the seating arrangement and think about how you want to arrange the tables and seating for your guests. Consider the relationships between guests and try to seat people together who will enjoy each other’s company.

Speeches

Wedding speeches are an important part of the wedding reception where family members and friends get the opportunity to express their feelings and share their joy with the newlyweds.

Our advice: Don’t forget to finish your speech by raising a toast to make everyone feel happy!

Dances

Your wedding dance is a special moment that you’ll always treasure, so take the time to plan and prepare for it. If your venue is dark and gloomy, we will plan and choose an additional lighting with a warmer temperaturę to create the perfect ambiance for your special day.

Our advice: changing shoes from high heels to flats will allow you to move easily and make you feel more comfortable during your first dance.
