Matthew O’ Connell is a highly regarded jazz guitarist and composer on the current Irish scene. He possesses a warm, lyrical and swinging sound on his instrument, which is immediately apparent when he takes a solo or interprets a melody. He also leads his own quartet with which he has toured Ireland and he is also preparing to record his debut album. In addition to this he is highly sought after educator/guitar teacher in many music schools in Dublin.
John Keogh is a graduate of Newpark Music Centre and holds a degree in Jazz Guitar and Composition. He also studied classical and Latin American guitar to a high level under the tutelage of Alan Grundy. He grew up in a household to the constant sound of the radio and the record player where he garnered a love of popular music from Simon & Garfunkel through to the Pointer Sisters, James Taylor, Luke Kelly and Marvin Gaye. It’s this love of pop music and the guitar in general that inspired him to focus on the guitar duo format. He’s released two albums with his colleague Julien Colarossi with a third album recorded and to be released in the summer of 2025 which showcases his composition and arranging talents.
2 guitars are an instrumental duo based in Dublin who travel throughout Ireland and specialise performing at weddings. If you are looking for something intricate and a little bit different during your ceremony or something groovy and relaxed during you drinks reception or day 2 to unwind, then these are the guys to call. We pride ourselves on arranging requests be it a soundtrack from your favourite movie or tv series, something classic by Etta James, Candi Staton, Stevie Wonder or an old school banger by Daft Punk or Stardust to exit is not a problem either. We are constantly extending our repertoire so anything modern by Bon Over, Drake or Tame Impala is welcomed into our set also which already features our versions of Red Hot Chilli Pepper and Hall & Oates tunes.
